Pros
I read a few of the negative reviews here and decided to chime in. I'm five years full time at HID Global, doing software engineering, and it's been a positive experience so far. They're very flexible on working from home, setting one's own hours, etc., and the organization seems mainly focused on getting the job done rather than enforcing stupid arbitrary rules. HID is a conservative business, which is to say they try to maximize profits and discard money-losing product lines. They have factories and offices all over the world, partly a result of acquiring other companies. The acquisitions seem intelligently done; in general, the acquired businesses keep their organizations and culture for a long time, which of course is what made them worth buying to begin with. I have confidence in HID's overall management, and most of the people I've dealt with in HID have been very professional and hard working. In fact I can't think of one bad one, that is to say a bad one who lasted very long. Every organization hires a few bad eggs, but HID seems pretty good at pushing them out. Overall it's been a very nice place to work, not the highest paying, but very stable and professional, and I've held a lot of jobs in my day.
Cons
The pay scale is conservative and I am not earning as much as I did a few years ago at previous technology positions. On the other hand, there are compensating factors such as the option to work from home.
