Pros

HP has afforded me the opportunity to work with some of the smartest people I have encountered across so many disciplines. Despite their big size, they have managed to keep the political correctness and requirements low, which results in an environment where you can focus on work, relationships and results. They also empower people to have balance in their lives, so there is not a lot of pressure to be at the office all day, and there is flexibility to get your work done where it makes sense, which is greatly appreciated by many people.

Cons

HP is still huge, and unfortunately that shows in their time consuming and bureaucratic ways of working. They claim to be the world's largest start up, but I wonder how many of the execs have actually worked in a start-up? Things are a lot less categorized and process driven, and much more trust and"blur" is extended to employees, job descriptions, policies, etc. so that people can be agile and work across boundaries, which is where true innovation happens.

Pros

You won’t find a more resilient, good‑humored, and quietly heroic group of employees anywhere. The real pros at HP are the folks who keep delivering results, supporting each other, and holding the place together — even as they’re asked to smile through baffling executive decisions, absorb constant reorganizations, and “embrace” strategies that seem designed by consultants who’ve never met an actual customer. If you want to work with people who can turn chaos into productivity and still crack a joke about it, HP’s rank‑and‑file are world‑class.

Cons

Despite consistently strong performance reviews and years of dedication at a senior level, HP’s decision to shut down our site while offering “relocation” — at my own expense, and only if I re‑apply for the job I already do — says everything about where this company has drifted. The old CEO’s infamous slip, “In HP Business First… I mean… Customer First,” has never felt more accurate. Leadership is disconnected from the realities employees face, yet continues to bring in PwC and other cost‑cutting consultants to tell them what employees have been saying for years. HP was once a company built on innovation, trust, and people. Today, it feels like a shell of that legacy — driven by short‑term cost cutting, site closures, and decisions that undermine both employee loyalty and long‑term business health. For a company that claims to value its people, the actions tell a very different story. Use caution if you’re considering building a career here. The culture and stability that once defined HP are fading fast.
