Pros

- Met some amazing people there, made some relationships that will last a lifetime - At the beginning, things looked promising - It was great to work with people internationally, from AU, US and CAD - The VP of people is one of the best leaders at the company, and am very grateful to have learned from her

Cons

- Some of the worst leadership I’ve ever been witnessed lead a company - Their lack of decision making, and competence led to spending an entire round of funding (see LinkedIn for total) that led to 3 rounds of layoffs. Of course no one at the top was impacted until we were all let go, but even at the end there was 0 accountability for their lack of business acumen - Leadership would publicly talk about people that had left the company, including people that were at the company for 5-7 years and devoted their time to help the company grow - Leadership was approached several times over the toxicity of their senior leaders and basically turned a blind eye to it, but were fully aware of what was happening - On top of it all, they’ve produced little to nothing to show for it. The answers on here point fingers to everyone but themselves, the people who lead the company.. It’s always someone else’s fault, but not once did they own up to their incompetence

Thanks for the review here. It's sad to see that your time at the company ended in bitterness and disappointment, The points you made were valid and was reflective of your experience here. The period that you were here in 2022 and 2023 was very challenging and we have made mistakes for sure. We over hired and were not able to get the best out of the team members we added. As you mentioned, certain leadership members were let go as well as team members like yourself. So, there was accountability for the fact we missed hitting numbers. One thing I would correct you on is that leadership would publicly talk about anyone who left the company, GOOD or BAD. Transparency is a big part of the culture here. The leaders (the ones that are still with the company) did own up to their own incompetence. And the result is that we have been able to vastly improve the performance of the business, clean up the culture and retain team members that show grit, positivity and passion to drive the company to the next level. On your advice: - Yes, we felt the impact and weight of affecting the livelihoods of people and their families. - Yes, the turnover rate WAS high in 2022-2023, but in 2024 it is extremely healthy. - Yes, runway is HEALTHY NOW because we have maintained a high bar for strong performers willing to go the extra mile every day. - Yes, I agree with your last advice on both points. Again, thank you for your feedback. I hope you are able to move on and take the pain you endured during your time here and use that to drive you to success in your next company. And hope you continue to grow in the new career path you started at HappyCo. chao

Pros

There are many great, hardworking, smart people who work at HappyCo, just as there are at all companies. They were truly a pleasure to work with. Unfortunately, they can't offset the travesty of an executive team who calls the shots. Decent benefits, comparable to most tech companies.

Cons

Sincerely, this was the most chaotic and disappointing experience of my career. There were so many red flags. Constant change for the sake of change, giving the sense of throwing whatever comes to mind at the wall to see what sticks but pivoting too frequently to see results play out. Little consideration is given to the impact of decisions on employees, so there's a constant level of unease and stress in the ranks. Assurances by executives cannot be relied on, as I learned. Numerous leaders have left or been pushed out over the past year, and that kind of turnover is always concerning. Attrition is high, overall, with a huge migration out of the Services team, in particular, due to extremely poor leadership, aggressive management style and general lack of competence. Any time a company knowingly allows employees to be treated poorly by certain people in management and takes no definitive action to resolve that, despite it being reported consistently, it taints the entire organization. Especially when those people are actually rewarded for that behavior. As mentioned in other reviews, executives speak badly and make fun of people who have left, which is shocking, unprofessional and feels very middle school. So many red flags, it's hard to list them all.
