Harlequin Design

Is this your company?

Looks like a great opportunity, but a terrible place to work. - Anonymous employee Harlequin Design Employee Review

Pros

Flexible work from home policy.

Cons

Bad and a very dated work culture. No managerial support, no training inclusive for the senior managers / directors. No Human Resources department. Lack of care, ethics and positive recognition for peoples long hard working hours. Terrible cross department blame culture. Owner employs an unusual amount of own family members and friends of the family, who all learn on the job despite the level of seniority they join the business at. The company have a constant very high turnover of staff, especially within the project management team, and are unphased by this. Incredibly unhealthy place to work, breaks down self esteem. This view is shared by all of the staff I have spoken to that have and still work here. Reports to management are often ignored. Very disappointed and concerned about current and future employees of this company and its toxic environment.

Pros

A paycheck, but at a high cost to your professional sanity.

Cons

* The "Satellite Office" Problem: Because the owners are in the UK, the US team is treated as an afterthought. You will feel isolated from decision-making and are only engaged when leadership wants to exercise control. Constant Interference: Expect to be micromanaged by people who are thousands of miles away and have no idea how your projects actually function. It is a highly annoying and inefficient way to work. Unrealistic Expectations: They expect expert-level output but offer zero support and even less professional empathy. They simply do not care about the people, only the data points. No Growth: If you want to move up the chain, look elsewhere. This is not a company that values or promotes its Project Managers.
