Pros

I trust the leadership. I work with excellent people who want to make a difference. The benefits are good. The company truly supports balance in personal/professional life. Leadership honestly exemplifies the company values. Able to work remotely. There are opportunities for internal advancement. Health Catalyst has an inclusive work environment.

Cons

There are limited opportunities to meet in person (somewhat expected due to the remote work environment). Company growth has been slower than anticipated (much of this is due to the current healthcare financial environment).

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. It means a great deal to hear that you trust our leadership, value your colleagues, and appreciate the balance and inclusivity we strive to foster. We are deeply committed to living our values, supporting our team members’ personal and professional growth, and ensuring that Health Catalyst remains a place where people feel empowered to make a difference. I also appreciate your perspective on the challenges of a remote-first culture. We have heard from some team members that collaboration is more difficult being remote, and there is value in “connecting” live rather than by Zoom. But, for the most part, continuing to be remote-first works well for us—our team member engagement continues to be high. In our most recent Gallup survey, we ranked in the 94th percentile. Each one of our six affinity groups offers regular, meaningful opportunities to connect, I encourage you to check them out – even if it’s just joining in on one of their Slack channels! Regarding company growth, you’re absolutely right that the current healthcare financial landscape has presented challenges. Despite this, we remain focused on long-term, sustainable growth while continuing to invest in our team members. We are grateful to have maintained financial profitability and sustainability, which allows us to prioritize competitive compensation, strong benefits, and internal career advancement opportunities. I appreciate your contributions and am grateful to have you on the team. I hope you see a bright future ahead of you at Health Catalyst! -Dan Burton

Pros

Great Talent & Culture: The people here are highly capable, collaborative, and committed to helping each other succeed. The partnership between onshore and offshore teams works well and is a real strength. There’s a culture of grit and stability that has helped the company navigate multiple major transitions over the years. Mission-Critical Engineering: The work involves complex data infrastructure that requires deep technical expertise. It can be demanding, but seeing these systems run successfully and support real-world operations is consistently rewarding.

Cons

Wage Compression and Retention Risk: Compensation for tenured and high-performing staff has not kept pace with the market for specialized data engineering and support leadership. In practice, tenure can feel undervalued or even penalized. This creates risk around losing institutional knowledge and operational continuity. Stagnant Career Progression: Contrary to stated expectations, strong performance ratings do not consistently translate into meaningful, market-aligned compensation growth. The process of how compensation is benchmarked lacks clarity in practice, obscuring how compensation decisions are made and what is required to advance.
