Pros
I have developed a wide array of skills during my tenure that can be applied with another company that will treat me with respect. In the management ranks you get a company car. You will have the opportunity to network with customers and accounts that may help you find a better job. I have learned to multitask to the highest degree. Throughout the day I will be answering phones, writing up a contract, washing cars, and doing reports at the same time because there is no staff. You will learn to prioritize and run a business. (if you ran your own business do not run it like Hertz)
Cons
I was on a conference call last week and upper management wanted employees to post fake positive reviews on this site to help improve the company profile. I am a morale guy and do not believe in cover ups. The problem needs to be fixed. Please read on... The turnover is really high. Because of this it makes it extremely difficult to keep quality people at the company. There is no staff. You will be working the job of 3 people and have no breaks. A bloated management system creates a severe disconnection with the baseline operations. There is no support from our territory and general managers. They just send us emails throughout the day telling us to improve and grow the business but offer no resources and support to do so. These positions need to be eliminated and more support needs to go the bottom. The area manager needs to report to our regional Vice President. The sales goals are nearly impossible. If you somehow meet them (which is rare) they change the bonus payouts which results in no bonus payout. It is very frustrating and downright cheating. Also if you do not hit your sales goals three months in a row it is automatic termination. No fleet and that leads to busted reservations and very upset customers. The stress is unbearable and long 11 hour days will run you into the ground. The quality of life is bad, and there is no balance between work and life. You will work all day, sleep, then go back to work. Your life is rental cars. Salary is below average for the service industry.
