Pros
Good benefits, relaxed work environment, promote from within, management is approachable, flexible schedule, opportunities for growth in knowledge and ability in the field. Negative reviews I have seen mention things like "nepotism," which first off, as a word, refers specifically to the hiring of family members, which as far as I can tell is an institution in American business at large, and not something I see as incredibly prominent or terribly off putting at HostGator, and secondly, if they mean it in in a broader sense, referring to "management" playing favorites, well, what do you expect? If you work hard for the company, are friendly, and responsive to what the company asks of you, management will like you. What company in the world does not function that way? If you complain about the quota system, are distant and resentful at management, and think your better than every one who works there because of your experience in the filed (which, by the way, landed you at the very company you choose to defame, so by your own reasoning, you must have done some really terrible work in the past ) then management is going to dislike you, Management is not the cool crowd in junior high, they don't just decide if your cool or not.
Cons
There's a fair amount of drama, and other reviews I have read reflect my experience to some degree, there is some degree of office politics, which I am sure can be tiresome, but thats pretty much the way of the world in my opinion. Some other negative comments I can agree with are that the management "Chain of Command" is hazy, and there are a lot of people who I know have some important job, but out side of their title, I am not sure what they do. The pay is lower than some comparable companies.
