Hard-working, intelligent individuals will be rewarded. The longer I stayed, the closer I became with people in various departments. I was a very well-rounded, flexible employee because of this, so I often received more hours and more opportunity to be involved in special events. The key: more hours and more opportunity equates to more income. The math is simple. Pay your dues, work hard and make yourself available, and you can earn a salary upwards of $50k or more per year. Aside from this, the restaurants at the hotel draw a lot of fantastic people and you will love many of your coworkers. It has a great culture in that respect.

Slow to change. Cyclical/seasonal peak business times. Affluent/conservative local following can be difficult to deal with. Often a 'take one for the team' mentality from management. Instead of compensating restaurant support staff with higher wages from the establishment, their tip shares continue to be raised and drawn from the servers' pockets.
