Dear anonymous, We’re glad to know that you’ve found the work–life balance at Hughes Systique to be a positive aspect of your experience. In the cons section of your review, you have mentioned that “Management doesn’t understand tech” and also that our employees are “technically dumb” with the organisation being “slow paced” and having “no tech growth”. For the betterment of the readers of this review, we would like them to know through you that an organisation which has been on the growth path that we are on for the past 20 years would not have been possible if our management would not be knowing tech. It is indeed ironical that someone who have just started their professional journey commenting in such an ill manner about their senior colleagues in the management – who are considered as experts in their respective areas and possess decades of experience. Your comments are not only misleading, vague and devoid of any context but also display your ignorance and lack of professionalism or logic. We would like you to know that HSC works for some the leading OEM’s and product companies around the globe. From the four state-of-the-art R&D centres, around latest Digital Technologies like Cloud, AI & ML, NoSQL/SQL databases, Microservices architecture, Spring boot, Angular, React, Python, Django, Selenium. In Wireless, we are working on most cutting-edge work in the 5G, O-RAN, Software Defined Radio, LTE, M-plane, Network Function Virtualization and satellite communication, Embedded development using C, Linux, Microcontroller, RPA etc. In addition to the technologies above, we are also building expertise in the new age technologies, like AI-ML, Quantum Computing/Cryptography, ORAN, 6G, etc. So, when you say that there is no “tech growth”, the comment in itself is invalid and is missing facts. Had you still been a part of HSC we would have encouraged you to talk to your manager, engineering group head or for that matter with the Engineering Head and share your concerns and suggestions in-person. Or you could have leveraged internal platforms like Q2M, Zero Hour, Amber etc. and shared it anonymously, if you had wished so. Nevertheless, wishing you the best for your future endeavours.

Pros

Great learning environment overall, especially if mentored under the right type of person (this factor is critical especially if employed in its India office - most US-based Hughes Systique and Hughes Networks Systems employees - techies or managers - are truly world-class). Great working environment in some projects and groups - the good managers and leads are truly awesome!!!

Cons

Extremely top-heavy org structure - about 40% employees have a 'manager' tag, and about 20% of all employees have corner offices. Number of total employees has remained stagnant over the last 5 years or so - a BIG negative for an aspiring IT Services major. Business acumen of some (not all) of the senior management folks is questionable. House of Extremes - the bad managers can be pathetic at best, horrendous at worst. Sycophantic culture has permeated some parts of the company. Generally considered to be a retirement resort for all senior management types (most of whom have been peers from Hughes Software Systems/Flextronics Software Systems/Aricent). Your chances of vertical growth beyond Senior Principal Engineer/Engineer Manager are next to nil if you are not of the right pedigree (read: an Aricent/HNS/HSS/FSS alumnus).
