Mixed views- Overall negative - Senior Developer ICBC Standard Bank Employee Review

Small bank so very less or no resources in most areas of IT apart from Development. You need to be physically visible to your Senior IT leadership to get respect and reviews and bonuses. No cutting edge work. Too much upgrades in application space and not enough in Infrastructure space. No focus on quality. Business do get the wrong end of the stick and get blamed for not testing for no fault of theirs. Many parts of IT donot understand their roles. IT strategy is never communicated. IT leadership donot have vision. Development teams will do everything to NOT focus on QA. This is also due to small teams. Culture in some pockets of IT is unbearable.. including my own area. Nepotism exists to a huge extent. Most promotions only happens in one area of IT. There is another review about absurd promotions in IT, which is very true.. especially at the top! Easy to get very disillusioned here..
