Pros

The only pros are the amount of paid time off you get.

Cons

Management has forgotten what it means to work for IKEA and to live the values that Ingvar Kamprad has passed down to us. Decisions used to be made on those values, not on the bottom line. You will get hired, and you will get the orientation that tells you that IKEA is different from other retailers. It isn’t. It’s the same. They just have a bunch of smoke and mirrors to distract you from the fact that management doesn’t know how to properly run the business and are too wrapped up in the egos of their positions to realize they are ruining the IKEA experience. I want to add that I have worked at several IKEA stores over the years but this one is different. So different I cannot recommend to anyone that they work there. The level is disorganization is so high that the workers on the floor are left to figure it out while management sits upstairs sipping coffee and having meetings that don’t improve anything.

Pros

I have a very empathetic and flexible manager. Although I do meet the requirement to be in office three days a week many others do not and don’t seem to suffer for it. My work can be challenging at times, but due to the slow pace of most things here I rarely feel overwhelmed.

Cons

This is, without equivocation, the most sclerotic organization I have ever been a part of. The management structure and reporting lines are inscrutable and even after 3 years I barely understand how my team fits into the larger picture. My job is a data role, and although getting access to data has improved somewhat, it is still one of my biggest blockers.
