Pros

I enjoy getting to work as part of a smaller team. Each of our clients is different so it's nice to get to do different work for each one, rather than the same thing for every client. It makes it so there is always variety in what we are doing. Since we are smaller, I also feel like you have ownership over the work you are doing because you are working directly on the project and are responsible for the outcome. I feel like we work a pretty typical day-to-day schedule and it's always easy to work with management to arrange time off whenever needed.

Cons

As a smaller team, you do have a lot of responsibility on the projects that you work on. This can be an opportunity to take on more responsibility, but some people don't enjoy it – just like group projects :) There's no "corporate ladder" of sorts to climb if you're into that. I've taken on more responsibility and grown in the company via the projects I work on and demonstrating leadership.

Pros

As a student, Ignite XDS has been the perfect place for me to grow and develop my skills as a software developer. All of the projects I have worked on here are tailored to my strengths and have been learning opportunities. I have worked on adding features to existing websites for global companies, developing internal software tools, and have even had the opportunity to develop an entire project on my own, which is a very rare and special opportunity as a junior developer! On top of this, the culture is awesome and makes me excited to come to work! It is not uncommon to a couple coworkers talking over a beer on a Friday, playing a game of desk-cornhole or playing fetch. Oh, and that's another thing! Employees are allowed and encouraged to bring their dogs to work, which I love because I'm a dog person and it's just another thing to look forward to coming into work. I have been involved in many extracurriculars that encourage leadership throughout school, and it's something that's important to me. Here, at Ignite, I have had countless opportunities to be a leader and use what I learned, but also to get out of my comfort zone and learn something new about leadership. Whether it's been presenting a project, reviewing someone else's work, or developing my own project from the ground up there are always opportunities here to be a leader, if you take them. Overall, working at Ignite has been an awesome experience! It has given me a new passion for software and coding and has even been a big influence on the classes I am taking in school and career goals. This has been an awesome job and I am excited to see where else it takes me!

Cons

At Ignite, you have to be a self starter, motivated and ambitious. The management here is not going to hold your hand to help you finish your work. If you don't have this, then you are not going to be happy here. However, if you are the kind of person who enjoys independence and having a sense of responsibility and ownership for your work, it is perfect.

Pros

- Unlimited time off* - Regularly available snacks *they say "within reason", but in reality it's whenever it's convenient to the boss

Cons

- Archaic view of marketing and advertising. They recycle the same web designs, templates and copy formats to maximize their profit and give their clients minimum effort - Money comes first, everything else is second. If you like working with clients and developing good relationships, avoid this business. Mitch has a short fuse and is quick to drop a client if he disagrees with their business model or political views - Horribly underpaid and overworked. They expect you to work 45+ hours while making next to nothing - Terrible office culture. Coworkers gossip and stab each other in the back to get ahead. In the year I worked there, we were a company of 17-18 people and fired or let go 7 or more of them. That is unacceptable. - Standards change arbitrarily to benefit management. Managers say that one thing is okay one week, then completely change their mind the next and act like you're stupid for not knowing. It's confusing, demoralizing and immature.
