Pros

- Very good non-management people. Some of the best people I've met in my career are here. - Shopfloor operators & technicians are very highly skilled, quite literally the best shopfloor people in whole Melaka. They are very experienced and will always be happy to share knowledge with Engineers. - HR organizes a lot of after-work activities as well as on the weekends, if you are an extrovert you will love this place. Great way to meet new people inside the company. - Great food options at the cafeteria, especially TOWER. - OKAY place to work ONLY IF YOU PLAN TO SETTLE DOWN IN MELAKA, and DON'T WANT TO CLIMB THE CORPORATE LADDER. Both of these MUST OVERLAP.

Cons

This is gonna be long so read through this before you come to work here:- - Performance & promotions are based on connections and race. No merit from your job will ever suffice if you don't pander the right people. Period. - Flexible working hours is a scam, they say you are eligible for flexible work but in the end, still up to their own politics, they WILL use this against you when considering you for a promotion. Some departments straight up not allowed for flexible working hours. - Too many managers for no reason. Top management keep on creating fake roles and departments just to shift up few managers up and around. No value added to the company, just pure political power play and race politics. - Too many overlapping roles, which causes imbalance in job distribution. Some people will seem like they are working 2-3 people's worth of work while others come to the office, have some 'meetings', take some coffee and by end of the day, go back sharp at 5 PM. - New ideas or project approvals require too many managerial involvement for no reason, if you have a project, you need to get signoff from everyone in the company. In reality only 2-3 people who is actually related to and has any concern about it. - Dumb culture of promotion based on projects as KPI. This culture is making everyone doing redundant and useless projects just for the sake of appraisal. After few months or a year, their projects end up being useless or straight up forgotten in regards to overall company production and end up in the gutter. This cycle repeats every year. - Promotions and good appraisal are NOT based on how much your module or department is contributing to the company. My previous team was one of the top-performing segments in the company, yet yearly increments are lower than those other segments which only causes loss of revenue for the company. Serious. - Unfair job distribution. One segment, which practically has no 'work' gets to party doing potluck every day, karaoke with even their manager/director joining, while my segment works like horses, some engineers even come in on the weekends and stay back late after working hours. - Top-down decision making are made behind closed doors. Only higher ups know about current company info, they treat you like you are an outsider. - VERY BAD interdepartmental teamwork. Every department is selfish and will only work for its own or shared interests. They will never help you unless the boss/director level is involved. Too tedious to do any meaningful work this way. - Company vendors are all tied with CRONYISM or straight NEPOTISM. These vendors sell or provide services double or triple of which compared to other vendors but due to nepotism they are the ones doing business. The company even goes to great lengths to protect these crony vendors by making it hard or IMPOSSIBLE to source your items or services from other vendors. - The culture of having to follow up with everything. As if a simple email isnt enough, you need to message them on webex, some even need to follow up through personal chats like WhatsApp or phone call just to ask for some basic info or inviting someone to a meeting for example. Nobody reads emails anymore? If you don't follow up 3-4 times then you are the one to be blamed. - Very outdated server side softwares, some company server systems are using interface straight out of the 1990s, not the mention the server lag. Takes 1-2 days just to do something in their integrated system. - Bad culture of pushing everything under the rug, especially between mid-production level to top management level. For example we had a significant problem in our line, local managers try hard to hide it from company Chief or Managing Director. This problem spans across all segments and across all managerial levels. - If you contribute to the company savings of MYR 1 Million, you get a free parking space for a year. What a joke, imagine saving millions for the company, but instead of getting a significant bump in salary or a promotion, you get a parking space, which is FREE in the first place. Sums up everything I have to say about this company.
