Great tools and salary, but overshadowed by an extremely toxic culture and mobbing - QA Engineer Insider One Employee Review

Pros

The company offers a fully remote work model with a highly competitive, above-average salary. As an employee, you are well-equipped with access to high-end development and AI tools to boost your daily productivity. Additionally, they strongly support professional growth by fully reimbursing the expenses for relevant certifications.

Cons

Severe Lack of Work-Life Balance: Management expects you to work up to 14-hour days and weekends just to hit unrealistic KPIs. They have zero respect for personal boundaries or emergencies. I was literally called into a meeting while on annual leave during my mother's surgery. Mobbing is part of the culture, with managers routinely demanding updates at 2 AM. Highly Toxic Environment & Favoritism: The culture is driven by gossip, backstabbing, and nepotism. Merit means nothing; high raises are given strictly based on how well you play office politics with your manager. Many current leaders are only there because of their early tenure and lack the actual skills required to pass a modern senior interview. Unfair Practices & Zero Job Security: The much-promoted "shareowner" program is a manipulative tool to trap employees. It doesn't guarantee safety; people have been given the title only to be unfairly dismissed the very next day for crossing the wrong person. HR Incompetence & Double Standards: Highly inappropriate behavior and severe misconduct (including issues involving intoxication) frequently occur at company events. HR completely turns a blind eye and sweeps these incidents under the rug for high-level management, while regular employees face immediate termination for minor infractions. Manipulated Ratings: The positive reviews you see here and on LinkedIn are largely forced. HR pressures employees into writing them, and there is an unspoken threat of retaliation if you don't comply.

Pros

1. The product demos well and, on paper, includes many features enterprise brands are looking for across personalization, lifecycle marketing, and customer engagement. 2. There are hardworking people across sales, SDR, marketing, onboarding, and support who are trying to do good work and support customers despite a challenging environment.

Cons

1. Commission is not handled in a clear or reliable way. The commission plan is not clearly written and is not consistently followed. Salespeople who close business will spend significant time disputing compensation they earned. 2. There is a noticeable gap between what is positioned during the sales process and what product, onboarding, and support teams are able to consistently deliver. This creates tension internally and disappointment for customers after signature. 3. The US sales motion is difficult due to limited client references, product gaps, and pressure to over-position capabilities in order to win deals. 4. The culture normalizes burnout and employee frustration. One comment from the CRO and co-founder during an AMA stood out: “You should want to quit Insider at least once a quarter. Once you want to quit three times a quarter, we can look at the problem.”
