Pros
The job itself is great. Very challenging and when you are awarded a project the feeling is great. Keeping people in the field employed is a great feeling as well.
Cons
I personally think that the hours are ridiculous. On average this department works 70-80 hours a week, even when the work load has slowed down a little. There is also very little incentive to work the hours required. The pay is average and there are no perks such as a company supplied vehicle, vehicle allowance, cell phone, nothing just work as many hours as you can physically and we will see you tomorrow. I recently worked over 400 hours in 3.5 weeks, the other .5 a week I took off to take care of some personal business at home. I was forced to use my payed time off to take off the remainder of that week.
