Pros
This will be a real review. I was asked by Matt Rasmussen to leave a 5 star rating, but I couldn’t do it. I think it’s wrong to ask your employees in a meeting to leave 5 stars to hide all the negative reviews, the real reviews of employees not asked to rate. Pros: There truly are some great people there. This is what made being here tolerable.
Cons
Leadership is terrible and it stems from the very top, Matt Rasmussen. If you’re really wondering what type of person he is, don’t take my word for it, just google “Matt Rasmussen scam” or “Matt Rasmussen reviews” or “Matt Rasmussen Thrive”. He is one of the most unethical business owners I have ever met. His last company, Thrive, was investigated by the FTC and the FTC named Thrive and Matt & Dave Rasmussen in a lawsuit that settled for 27 million dollars!! Yeah, these guys settled! The lawsuit points out how they scammed thousands of people of their hard earned money... like millions of dollars! Preying on the weak. And why did the FTC name Matt Rasmussen personally??? Because he trained the scam. Before ion changed their name, there were hundreds of horrible reviews from customers and employees alike. What surprises me is how ion is actually still in business. The merger? Haha what a joke. We were all told 1+1 = 5 or 7 or whatever Matt thought he needed to say to encourage people that it would get better. Business is worse than before, profits are lower than ever, and that means more yelling by... you guessed it, Matt Rasmussen. Yelling at employees must be one of his past times, he really seems to enjoy it. Maybe it gives him a sense of power, who knows. About the same time as the merger, they really started paying huge sign on bonuses for recruiting sales people. They’ll pay 10-15 thousand for anyone with a pulse and some solar experience. And if you look good and sell them a story of how good at sales or how many guys you can bring? Try $150,000 sign on bonus for one guy! Haha the best part is, that guy is a total snake... and he out-snaked Matt. He leveraged his guys and asked for even more money after they made sales. He now has a monthly salary, a car bonus, travel bonus, another $50k, a pay scale of $450 per kw, and he makes the difference between his sales guys pay and $450 per kw. Oh, and I’ve both heard and seen Matt Rasmussen directly order his employees to stop sales reps pay if they leave. That’s right, even if they have earned it. They say figure out a way to show that we don’t owe them money. I have seen them screw guys out of tens of thousands of dollars.
