Pros

Donuts? Coffee? All the fake promises?

Cons

Okay, here is the deal. JAS is a GIANT scam with the most TOXIC company culture you can imagine. People quit on a monthly basis. JAS employs very young, inexperienced people who are hungry for money. People are promised to earn at least $60k in their first year- that is NOT going to happen. Commission DOES NOT pay out. It just doesn’t. Clients are supposed to pay you 30 days after the placement, but payments usually take 6-7 months, so your base salary is really all you have. If you decide to quit, you will LEAVE BEHIND ALL YOUR MONEY and that is basically how this company has been operating for years. Ten years to be precise. The partners are very smart in that regard. They live off the money you leave behind. Quite simply- don’t be fooled thinking you’re making big money. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Health insurance? Basically DOES NOT EXIST. Your deductible will be $6,500. Good luck with that!! Another thing- flexible schedules are being advertised constantly. Yet, EVERYBODY is terrified of working flexible schedules because, frankly speaking, this policy is yet another scam. Work from home? Forget about it. Only four people get this benefit. Too bad you're not the boss's favorite. Growth opportunities? What's that?! And let's not forget- you will be competing with your own boss over a sales deal. You two could be working on the same role, so too bad if you do not luck out and close the deal. The environment is VERY competitive with everyone’s earnings and revenue being very transparent, so people are constantly depressed, stressed and freaking out. You will have to put your monthly earnings on a white board sitting in the middle of the office. Have fun with people gossiping around when you go cold turkey. Oh, and everybody is, of course, constantly applying for new jobs and hoping to get out of JAS. Crying sessions in the bathroom? A part of your daily life at JAS. And what about all that gossip? Well, just know that the cliquey stigma holds truth in here. If you are a smart person with the ability to hold a profound conversation that does not revolve around the Kardashians, run the opposite direction and start building a real career. Don’t waste your time. Swearing out loud, down-talking your bosses during lunch time- not the environment anybody deserves.

JAS Recruitment Response

Clearly from your review you feel cheated and certainly did not have a good experience at JAS. We are truly sorry you feel that way. There is no doubt we have had a contingent of people who have created a toxic environment. This has caused a great amount of headache and stress throughout the entire organization with the few making the environment bad for the majority. At the end of the day, the role of recruiter is performance-based. Each recruiter receives considerable training and is granted free reign on how they spend their time and what they focus on. The recruiters who perform earn well in excess of their peers and we try to work with the folks that struggle, giving them time to pull through and turn around. Some have, however some have not. There have been a few occasions when a client takes a long time to pay, this is the same for any business, but these circumstances are rare and blown out of proportion by the reviewer. Our compensation structure is heavily weighted to reward performers as opposed to subsidize the underperformers. This philosophy is carried through to the benefits, rewarding performers with higher compensation and an extremely generous 401k plan, the very real chance to get an extra week as Paid Time Off on top of standard 19 days paid time off. History has shown that the average first yearly earnings of people who do perform are in excess of $60k, sadly, it is less than that for those that don’t perform. Clearly the environment was not for this particular former employee but we have many professional people at JAS who are doing well on both a personal and professional basis. It is upsetting the former employee feels so bitter. I hope they find something that is better suited.

Pros

The people that I worked with were very nice. The benefits were good and so was the pay. It felt very nice once you hit commission tiers and got the extra money. Good amount of PTO as well. If you’re good at sales, you’ll be good at this job.

Cons

Recruiting and Sales is not for everyone. It’s a tough job; and depends a lot on how candidates respond and what the market is for the job you’re recruiting for. Disappointed in the leadership as they micromanage to no end; and don’t provide detailed enough support to help you when struggling. Any advice given from leadership is too vague; and they expect you to work your life away unless you’re doing well (even though they want you to succeed in your own way). There seems to be a large disconnect between leadership and recruiters; and the former doesn’t seem to want to acknowledge that things are different on ground level depending on the job.
