Gaslight, GirlBoss, Get out. - Behavioral Therapist JF BCBA Services Employee Review

Pros

great pay at least, as long as you don't mind being illegally not paid for drive time between clients, and having them refuse to officially fire you when they decide to stop giving you clients.

Cons

If you enjoy working for a gaslighting girlboss, this company is the one for you. Having to hear through the grapevine how other employees get treated is bad enough, living in fear that you'll end up on the nonfavorite list and having it happen to you, is worse. If you're a favorite of management, you'll have a spectacular golden time. Unfortunately in a company of almost 100 people, less than 10 are favorites at any one time. Keep your head down and don't stick out. They'll also claim to be inclusive and diversity friendly, and then immediately engage in microaggressions towards staff, and be offended if people aren't thrilled with their lip service towards inclusion and support.

Pros

The hourly wage is great! You also have a LOT of freedom to make decisions.

Cons

Major changes are constantly being made and staff are not notified. The owner will promise you full time hours, then string you along until you accept working part-time. The only training provided is the 40-hour RBT training course that you do online, but the course doesn't begin to teach you what you will need to know when you start working with clients. No ongoing training except for 3-4 visits per week from the LaBA (who isn't actually being supervised by the BCBA). I only saw the BCBA once a month if I was lucky and when she showed up, all she did was confuse staff and parents by talking about procedures and concepts that weren't relevant to the client. The owner also uses a multi-disciplinary approach, and since starting at a new ABA company, I've learned that her approach violates several ethical codes because it is often not behavior analytic in nature. I would say the worst part about working here was the communication--which wasn't even bad, it just didn't exist. She opened a clinic and nobody knew about it until she started relocating staff there. Even then, not even the supervisors understand what is going on in that location. The lack of communication also means that the staff (myself included) have absolutely no idea what they are doing.
