Pros

This job has been such an awesome career decision for me. I have been able to increase my involvement and production within the company through a good work ethic and willingness to take on the responsibility. I started out as a PhotoBooth Host, and have only continued to rise up through the ranks and contribute more to Jammin' DJs ever since. This can be a super fun job, but this is only the case when you do the correct logistical work and make sure that everything is set prior to events. This job is extremely detail-oriented, and prioritizing that those details are executed correctly is the difference between a good show, to a great show. The mentality and direction of the company is very exciting, and knowing that I am a piece of that is very rewarding and self-fulfilling as an employee and member of management.

Cons

There can be a good amount of drive time involved with this job. Many of the venues that we service range from north-to-south Georgia, with no discretion on where we will go and put on a show. It is a great privilege to be a well-known, trusted entertainment company throughout Georgia, but the drive time can certainly add up under a busy schedule.

Cons

You were technically an independent contractor so benefits are not included.

Pros

Some venues give you a free meal on the day of your gig.

Cons

You don't get paid for setup & usually, setup is A LOT longer than the actual gig. For example: the gig may only be 2-3 hours, but setting up all the equipment may take closer to 4-5 hours prior to the gig. You will not get paid for that 4-5 hours of setup. The owner screams a lot & throws temper tantrums on the regular. They will change your gig locations the day of. Example: you have been booked for several weeks to do a show in Marietta & had made plans to be at that part of town, but 2 hours prior to your show, they may switch your show, causing you to have to drive an extra 90 minutes out of your way. Often times, the time it takes to drive to the venue is longer than the actual gig itself. Lots of last-second changes. They make you train new people all the time - even if you're new yourself - but you don't get paid extra for training people. It does take more time & you will be at your gig longer on the days that you're training someone. There is a lot of drama with this company the owner John, his wife, & the Manager, thrive off of drama & will start drama up out of nowhere if there hasn't been any in a week or two. The owner refers to himself as God. They will text you during non-work hours & try to get you to do work for them off of the clock. If you're booked to do a wedding and the Bride & Groom choose to tip the DJ during the booking process - instead of cash in person the day of the wedding - the owner will pocket your tip & keep it for himself.

We appreciate all feedback, but we strongly disagree with the claims made in your review and want to take a moment to clarify our policies and defend our team members, who are dedicated professionals. First and foremost, every potential staff member goes through a thorough vetting process before being hired. This includes full transparency regarding pay structure, expected hours, driving requirements, and all other key details. Every individual who joins our team is provided with this information in advance so they can make an informed decision about working with us. Regarding setup time, we clearly communicate that our pay structure is based on performance time, as is standard in the entertainment industry. However, we take every measure to ensure that setup and teardown are as efficient as possible to minimize unpaid time. Additionally, in many cases, we do offer additional compensation for extensive setup requirements, which is communicated on a per-event basis. As for last-minute changes, while we strive to provide as much stability as possible, this is the nature of live entertainment and event production. Events sometimes change due to client needs, venue adjustments, or unforeseen circumstances. Our team does its best to accommodate these changes while maintaining fairness to all staff. The accusations made toward John, Lindsay, and Tyler are entirely false and unfounded. They are hardworking professionals who are committed to running a successful business and treating employees fairly. Claims that they “thrive off drama” or that John “refers to himself as God” are not only inaccurate but entirely fabricated. Personal attacks like these are unfair and misleading. Regarding training, we believe in fostering a collaborative team environment. More experienced team members may be asked to train new hires, which is standard in many industries. Training ensures that all events meet our high standards, and we appreciate the mentorship our team provides to newcomers. Finally, the claim that we withhold tips is completely false. If a client includes a tip in their payment, it is either paid out to the DJ directly or factored into their compensation. Any suggestion otherwise is simply incorrect. We take great pride in our work, and our long-standing relationships with both clients and staff speak to our professionalism and integrity. While we understand that not every workplace is the right fit for everyone, we stand by our team and the way we conduct business. We wish you the best in your future endeavors. Best, JAMMIN’ DJs Management
