Pros

Good work/life balance on my team, nobody ever worked over 40 hours per week. Middle management was decent, humble, and effective at their jobs. Milwaukee offices are being renovated to allow for more collaboration and modern aesthetics. A decent amount of social events with opportunities to mingle. Cafeteria has decent food. Global company with an opportunity to collaborate on international projects. Parking is available nearby.

Cons

Since McKinsey was brought in to "transform" the company, everything has been focused on profits as opposed to things like employee happiness. There have been a ton of layoffs, upper management has even ordered layoffs in divisions whose financials and performance are exceeding expectations. Experienced employees have been let go for being "too expensive", including engineers with 35+ years at the company, in exchange for less experienced people who are willing to stay for $25K or more below market in terms of compensation just to get JCI on their resume. Major vendors are frequently not paid on time, with employees receiving collection calls from reps - some have even blacklisted JCI. Lost its bread and butter (government contracts) after relocating tax base to Ireland as part of Tyco merger, which hurt the company.

Pros

The benefits are good for the most part.

Cons

Overwhelming amount of tasks. Paying for company vehicle as a manager reduces your overall income. Made more money in the field. Overly competitive atmosphere within the company, No work-life balance, Nepotizm is ramped.
