Pros
Employees at Kaman have the opportunity to learn a wide range of skills across multiple different areas, especially at the corporate level. Because of this, there is regular interaction with the highest levels of the organization.
Cons
Because Kaman is so lean, employees take on more than is appropriate for a single role. Burnout and stress are common occurrences, and leaders don't listen or care when their employees tell them they can't take on more work. Compensation is low when compared to the requirements of the job. Technology tends to be outdated, and IT is incredibly risk averse to adopting new ways of doing things, which makes it frustrating when dealing with stakeholders outside of the company. Despite the creation of "Women Advocating Leadership at Kaman" in recent years, the old boys' club mentality is still very much alive. Often, it seems that people are promoted not because of their abilities but because of how long they've been at the company.
