Pros

Fairly competitive compensation (but a little below average). Flexible work schedule (although not consistent across all departments). Great group of employees. Highly supportive of employee development and growth. Excellent mentoring program.

Cons

For over ten years I was always proud to say that I worked for Kelley Blue Book. It was a fun place to work with great people and a great culture. Sadly that is no longer true. KBB has lost its way under the leadership of the current Cox Automotive executive team. They are trying to do too much without providing the necessary support. They have made financial commitments to the Cox family that are impossible to meet. When reality set in they announced that we’re in cost cutting mode, there will be upcoming layoffs, but everyone should relax, remain positive and keep our eyes on the ball. Morale is at an all-time low as everyone is worried about the impending job cuts. What else, you ask, could they possibly do to destroy any remaining thread of morale? How about discontinuing the pre-holiday early release policy right before the Independence Day holiday. Are they trying to force a mass employee wholesale exit?!? (yes, I know that's redundant)

Pros

I worked at Kelly blue Book for several years in consulting role. Overall it’s a great place to work at (I was at Irvine location). The company was sold to Auto Trader back in 2010 (ish) time frame. Since then the company culture has changed... it operated as its own entity for some time and eventually was made part of Cox Automotive. All these companies were a nice place to be at even with all the cultural changes. One thing I liked a lot was their focus on using the newest technology. They were early adopters of Big Data, Cloud, etc. so on tech side it’s a great place. As a contractor we did not get same training as employees but, you were encouraged to work and learn all the time. Overall I would say it’s a great place to be at.

Cons

Company politics are present in all companies. Same here. However after acquisition, it felt that every decision came from somewhere else. Technical teams that worked on projects were not always asked for solutions but rather told which tools to use and make it work, even if it was a bad choice and they knew it too. As contractors you don’t get into politics, but it did affect the work you did. I also heard from many employees that the upward movement potential is rather limited. Your best bet if you want to me be up is to you quit and get another job. Them come back in a year at higher level. Internal promotions are rather limited.
