Pros
-Flexibility with work schedule, PTO, medical appointments, personal emergencies, etc.
-Friendly atmosphere.
-Help is offered when you hit roadblocks on certain tasks.
-Smaller company, so you get to know everyone pretty well.
-Many opportunities to be exposed to different areas of the business outside of your department/position
Cons
-Little to no opportunities for growth.
-No consistent expectations or goals set between management & employees. Goalpost is constantly moving.
-*Management is retroactive rather than proactive*
-Very little to no management feedback. No communication regarding areas in need of approvement, and absolutely no acknowledgement/praise for any positive aspects the employee contributes to the company/position.
-Employees forced to take on many tasks beyond the scope of their position with poor/minimal training.
-There is a "blame game" culture in the office where more energy is spent blaming someone for the problem (regardless of fault), rather than teamwork being utilized to solve the issue.
-Small mistakes are frequently highlighted & never forgotten.
-Rash & poor decision making with owner/management.
-Stressful environment with many unrealistic expectations which are never made clear.
-Constant & consistent change with little time to adapt regarding staffing, company policies/procedures, and employee expectations.
-Inconsistent workflow. You will be either overloaded by multiple projects all at once, or there may be little/no projects in progress which leads to eliminating staff frequently & suddenly.
-High turnover rate of employees (unless you are close with the owner). Kinzie chooses to hire new employees at lower rates rather than grow & invest in the talent they already have.
-Company culture/values are disingenuous. Management/owner actions do not align with the supposed values. Many decisions are made on a whim with no transparency or consideration for the impact these decisions will have on employees.
