The dark side I mentioned is that it's danger money.
All of the previous negative reviews are accurate. Don't accept a job here if you have one already...only accept if you're not working and need the money.
Kody has a very toxic work culture where the founder likes to send rambling slack messages about he's still working at 2am and that he wants his staff to "think about about the company in their sleep". He also posts quotes from other start-up founders who brag about working 80+ hours a week and how it's the only way to survive etc. He then attempts to incentivise staff by claiming that they stand to become multi-millionaries if the company performs and becomes publicly listed.
This is then underpinned by threatening public messages on slack such as "I want this feature live before X date or we will have to reduce headcount again"
The lofty ambition to secure series B funding and beyond is a far cry from the reality of micro-managing their staff, sending obscure and often threatening messages and generally giving the appearance of being unstable and incoherent.
Leadership colleagues appear to either condone or placate the founder rather than offer any useful steer. Maybe this is done out of fear but perhaps it's because they also believe in his practices? Either way; nobody senior breaks rank.
Add into the mix the leadership moving the goalposts whenever it suits them; it's a very poor place to work. They recently introduced a mandatory 5 days in the office rule after previously claiming to be remote-first. There was no consultation just bam launched overnight. This was followed up with the threat of "if you don't show up or explain which clients you were visiting then the disciplinary process will be followed and you could be dismissed."
All in all, I would encouage you to avoid Kody unless you are out of work and need the money.
