Cons
The job is super slow, there isn't many customers each day. At the boutique I worked at we get about 10-20 clients a day. Management and corporate has very unrealistic store targets and each store has very high unachievable targets. Each staff is monitored closely to see if they achieve their targets and there is a MONTHLY EVALUATION. The monthly evaluation is a tool to pressure sales staff to sell more. This is the first sales job that I encountered that does monthly evaluation. Every evaluation was about what I was doing wrong and what I did not do. The evaluation failed to mention anything about what I did well. In addition, they got part-time staff to do the manager's work without training with no increase in pay or acknowledgement. My manager was passive, aggressive, manipulative and rude. This company is all about meeting their quotas and when not met they blame it on the employees and further discussion we are not meeting conversion. The company needs to realize that many of the products are overpriced and typically clients walk out of the shop because prices are simply too high. The company is very disorganized at the corporate level. The IT system is old and outdated; and constantly you have to call IT. There is no growth with the company. New employees get the same pay as the older employees.
