Pros

I can't think of many pro's of working for LGC. They get you snacks every once and awhile.

Cons

Do not expect a paid day off from LGC within the first year and a half, this includes all major holidays. The way they do it, is that you first start out at as hourly employee. Under this status, you will never get paid holidays and have no PTO available. From there, if you impress enough people, you could have the chance to be moved to salaried. Under this category, you will receive 6 paid days off your first year. These days are to include all personal days, all vacation days, and also all sick days. Once you are salaried, you will generally work more than your standard 40 hour week. Overtime is not available for inner office business, so you will not be compensated for those extra hours. Flex time is also not avaliable, so they have no formal package to reimburse you for the extra hours you spent for the betterment of the company on your dime. That is just one part of the horrid benefits package. No one is eligible for a 401 K. Health insurance through them is more than double what I pay for my current employer with significantly less perks. Also, LGC does not believe in training their new employees or having quality control trainings for seasoned employees. You will see this your first day. By the end of your second day, you will have to demonstrate that you can effectively do your job with minimal, if any, training. The running joke in the office is sink or swim. Upper Managment is abrasive and too busy to help out lower level employees. Finally, the office place culture is completely unprofessional. I had sexual advances against me daily, and was the brunt of jokes about what other coworkers perceived to be my sexual orientation on a daily basis. I had a problem with this and mentioned numerous times for this behavior to stop. The behavior never ceased. Now knowing what I know now, if I would have documented those occurrences better, LGC would be hit with a lawsuit. I took a whole day seminar on sexual harassment for my new job and it made me realize that however much my previous coworkers at LGC tried to normalize that explicit behavior, it was still in deed sexual harassment. Finally, if you think you are doing a great job and have no risk to be let go, think again. LGC is a revolving door. They will give you no performance reviews to help for yourself to see what they think of your progress. Upper Management is also very vindictive and can be childish at times so if you do one or two things that you even think that they don't like, you might as well start putting in applications for another job. They will give you no warning prior to telling you to hit the road.
