Unfair treatment of people from abroad and women - Anonymous employee LOVOO Employee Review

Pros

Free breakfasts, snacks and drinks each day. Nice office, friendly environment, cool team events and parties. Regular trips to Dresden.

Cons

They used to hire lots people from abroad and offering them a minimum wage for high skilled profession (related to Berlin office only). That resulted in lots of people realising they were treated unfair and leaving the company after 6-12 months. Especially the situation was difficult for women: extreme even for Berlin salary difference between men and women , no chance of promotion , no chance of salary raise, women from abroad were paid much less for the same position as women from Germany. (As far as I'm aware the person who was responsible for hiring in Berlin - he was down graded in his position twice ever since as he had his first 360 review where employees had a chance to raise the voice). Then that big story with a police raid happened and co founders were arrested in summer 2016. It turned out that the company had a fraud issue with fake accounts in their app. I don't know how the company still claims to be one of the best employer with winning awards - it all looks like another fake with positive reviews written by HR managers themselves. To sum it up - that company is a massive roller coaster which I wouldn't recommend to experience to anyone.

Qualifications and company fit are criteria for selection, sex and nationality are irrelevant. Personal feedback may be given in our regular feedback rounds, that also offer the possibility to address grievances. All colleagues may also at any time speak to the management, their heads or the HR team. We encourage open communication and the opinion of each team member is extremely important to us. We very much regret that you feel treated unfairly and would have liked, if you had spoken directly to us earlier about issues that bothered you. Issues such as the professional and personal development of every team member, attractive working conditions and a fair and due pay for the whole team is also in our interest.
