Pros

Benefits are amazing. (Not as good as Google or Facebook, but better than nearly anyone else. Pay is good, can be great. Some of the best people I have ever worked with. Not necessarily the smartest, although very smart, but good humans. They care.

Cons

I just passed my 2 years, and my guidance is don’t trust what they tell you in the offer, especially if through Recruiter. And read your letter very, very closely and don’t assume it says what you think. Also, don’t count of “opportunities” regardless of what they say. I took the job, the lowest pay I’ve had in 10 years, on the basis of promises and opportunities, but given the market in semiconductors, it hasn’t worked out. However I’m still here because of the people the CEO and the culture. Given the external market, SF Bay Area, I don’t know how much longer I will wait.

Pros

Opportunities to support global activities

Cons

Heavy micromanagement — frequent revisions on ppt to minor details like font size and colors. Frequently calling staffs even after work hours and lunch time. Manager often takes on additional work from other teams without considering current team workload, So the manager appears supportive and “nice” externally but creates additional burden to the subordinates. Manager controls team budget strictly for team-building activities (events and meals), team members feel restrictive and reluctant to participate, for example team members dare not order appetizers, dessert or drinks on top of entrees during team events. Manager used up most of the travel budget. Biz trip and personal travel boundaries are unclear, especially when manager frequently has business trips overlaps with personal travel. Seems like manager using biz trip to get free hotel and free air tickets for PTO.
