- Too much workload to really utilize the learning resources we have; most employees work plenty of (unpaid) overtime and are still behind on work and client requests
- Too much workload to really feel like you're doing a confident/quality job on more than 75% of tasks; website development, paid search, AMs - any mistakes are swept under the rug, every single dealership's accounts and sites look the same, and nothing is bettered or fixed until a client catches a mistake. Most clients that love us simply love us because their old providers sucked since digital is still a new field for many and there are still a lot of profitable crappy providers.
- CEO will say the pay is what it is based on average salaries in the area, but let's be real, there's not that many digital agencies in Naperville, and there's definitely not many, if any, that handle as many clients or as much client $$$ as we do. they severely need to pay their employees more, especially given how much overtime everyone works
- so where does the money go? to employee favorites based on connection (not performance) who get paid outrageously higher than people of same or lower positions regardless of if they deserve it. $6,000 coffee machines that run slowly. $$$$$$ holiday parties meant to impress clients even though we can't handle a higher rate of onboarding new clients
- the whole company is immature and it shows. it's not just the clueless early twenty-somethings who are the foundation for everyday tasks or the middle school music that blasts on the office speakers every week, the CEO is known to have shouting matches with his employees. he lacks the ability to handle issues - for instance, we have a problem with gossiping about the problems with the company, and at our weekly, waste-of-time company meetings (meant to inspire useless company propaganda to make everyone feel better about overworking themselves), he literally said something along the lines of "we're a great company, if you don't like working here, you can leave, but when you work here, stop saying negative things." true, gossip is a negative thing and should be curbed, but all gossip is rooted in some truth. he could have taken the opportunity to address the problems, but instead he tells unhappy employees to leave. great perspective to have as CEO when people are already leaving the company faster than anywhere I've ever seen even as we're desperate to hire to keep up with work.
**it's ridiculous that this is the only company I've seen where business looks so great, growth is top-notch, yet people are miserable rather than happy**
- going along with the immaturity, this company seriously needs to learn the concept of "under promise, over deliver." they've promised better internet since, what, August 2016? It was February when I left and just recently there are still days when the entire company is sitting around for 3 hours because the company internet went out. And instead of letting their ONLINE-based employees work from home, they keep us there doing absolutely nothing. it has happened at least 5 times over the 2 years I've worked here. that's talking full-on outages - there have been hundreds of times where internet delays, speed or disconnects delayed a simple task by hours. multiply that by 200+ employees and that's thousands of hours of wasted time. craziness!
- there was also talk of restructuring client accounts so that specific people are assigned to certain accounts in a region (rather than the random assignments people got) - that was promised to be rolled out by February as well, but surprise, when I left, everyone was virtually working on the same accounts. I understand things take time, but it's one thing to work on it patiently during that time, and another thing to keep announcing all these changes saying they're coming in X week to get people excited and keep their spirits up (since spirits can be pretty low) yet have nothing change for MONTHS. no one believes anything upper management has to say anymore, and that's not because people gossip; it's because they've proven themselves to give false promises on the daily.
