Pros

Beer. Fun atmosphere. Cool outings. You'll be able to learn a good amount of digital marketing. You'll learn how hard work doesn't always pay the bills.

Cons

CEO Joe is a hot head. He'll fire you for any reason. He's fired his own family from this company. Read the other reviews that he didn't make someone write. He's created a cool atmosphere but behind closed doors and Facebook posts, this guy is a yeller and he'll do it in front of anyone. It's his world. There's a reason why there is almost 100% turnover here after 2 years. If you are old enough to have life obligations(house, kids, wife, etc) You don't want to work here. If you live at home and have insurance with your parents, work here.

Pros

- Great connections with places like Google, auto dealerships and some OEM programs - Some truly great people with good hearts and sharp minds - Fast-paced, growing

Cons

- Too much workload to really utilize the learning resources we have; most employees work plenty of (unpaid) overtime and are still behind on work and client requests - Too much workload to really feel like you're doing a confident/quality job on more than 75% of tasks; website development, paid search, AMs - any mistakes are swept under the rug, every single dealership's accounts and sites look the same, and nothing is bettered or fixed until a client catches a mistake. Most clients that love us simply love us because their old providers sucked since digital is still a new field for many and there are still a lot of profitable crappy providers. - CEO will say the pay is what it is based on average salaries in the area, but let's be real, there's not that many digital agencies in Naperville, and there's definitely not many, if any, that handle as many clients or as much client $$$ as we do. they severely need to pay their employees more, especially given how much overtime everyone works - so where does the money go? to employee favorites based on connection (not performance) who get paid outrageously higher than people of same or lower positions regardless of if they deserve it. $6,000 coffee machines that run slowly. $$$$$$ holiday parties meant to impress clients even though we can't handle a higher rate of onboarding new clients - the whole company is immature and it shows. it's not just the clueless early twenty-somethings who are the foundation for everyday tasks or the middle school music that blasts on the office speakers every week, the CEO is known to have shouting matches with his employees. he lacks the ability to handle issues - for instance, we have a problem with gossiping about the problems with the company, and at our weekly, waste-of-time company meetings (meant to inspire useless company propaganda to make everyone feel better about overworking themselves), he literally said something along the lines of "we're a great company, if you don't like working here, you can leave, but when you work here, stop saying negative things." true, gossip is a negative thing and should be curbed, but all gossip is rooted in some truth. he could have taken the opportunity to address the problems, but instead he tells unhappy employees to leave. great perspective to have as CEO when people are already leaving the company faster than anywhere I've ever seen even as we're desperate to hire to keep up with work. **it's ridiculous that this is the only company I've seen where business looks so great, growth is top-notch, yet people are miserable rather than happy** - going along with the immaturity, this company seriously needs to learn the concept of "under promise, over deliver." they've promised better internet since, what, August 2016? It was February when I left and just recently there are still days when the entire company is sitting around for 3 hours because the company internet went out. And instead of letting their ONLINE-based employees work from home, they keep us there doing absolutely nothing. it has happened at least 5 times over the 2 years I've worked here. that's talking full-on outages - there have been hundreds of times where internet delays, speed or disconnects delayed a simple task by hours. multiply that by 200+ employees and that's thousands of hours of wasted time. craziness! - there was also talk of restructuring client accounts so that specific people are assigned to certain accounts in a region (rather than the random assignments people got) - that was promised to be rolled out by February as well, but surprise, when I left, everyone was virtually working on the same accounts. I understand things take time, but it's one thing to work on it patiently during that time, and another thing to keep announcing all these changes saying they're coming in X week to get people excited and keep their spirits up (since spirits can be pretty low) yet have nothing change for MONTHS. no one believes anything upper management has to say anymore, and that's not because people gossip; it's because they've proven themselves to give false promises on the daily.

Launch Digital Marketing Response

I’d like to respond, as I feel strongly for the company and the direction we are moving and want to address not only the cons but pros you’ve listed in your review. You’ve nailed it, we are a fast-paced and growing company. We have seen growth over the last two years that many companies never experience in their tenure. While it is very exciting, it is also a huge task to ensure we are hiring, training and scaling in the correct way to allow our employees to flourish alongside the business. That said, do we always get it right? No. Is there a margin of error? Absolutely. Are we trying our best to get our employees everything they need to be successful? Every day. One of our biggest points of pride is our people. We are a collection of, as you said, great people with sharp minds, and together have moved the needle and pushed technology and our services forward. We have been working with several recruiting agencies as well as internally to find the right people with the right experience and bring them into our organization to sustain growth. We have brought on 10+ people per month for the last 3 months in an effort to scale and that number is going to continue to grow. This has been a laser focus for us as we understand the need. We are always working, whether it is apparent to all employees or not, to bring people in to alleviate the workload. As you can imagine, bringing on people this quickly has had its own challenges. We are listening to our employees and working to make changes based on the feedback, including salary changes. I have been creating salary bands for each position and am utilizing market data to ensure we are competitive for our area. This will be on-going as we grow, and it too will take time. In terms of where the money goes, we have just added 14,000 square feet of new office space to ensure everyone has adequate space to work. When we moved into our current space back in August 2015 we could not have anticipated the growth we experienced and less than a year later we were working to acquire and build out more space for our employees. Similarly, we have had our share of connectivity challenges where the internet is concerned. We have worked tirelessly with our provider and IT company to improve connectivity and throughout have communicated our efforts to employees. There has been disappointment with the amount of time it has taken to get it right, not just from employees but management as well. We have invested significant resources into improving the workspace and internet, and invest in perks for our employees including: coffee and other beverages, breakfast items and snacks which most, if not all, employees utilize on a daily basis. With regard to the regionalization of our business, making the necessary changes to shift clients takes time, effort and consideration. Coming from a client facing role myself, I understand the importance of making sure our clients are comfortable with the changes and ensuring them that their business will continue to thrive as we make organizational shifts. Internally, the same is true. We need to look at all angles of impact this will have and have the right people lined up to receive the business as changes have the potential to impact 400+ clients. All of this considered, having the transition in place by the end of the first quarter would be ideal. We appreciate your feedback with regard to transparency. As we grow we are excited to share ‘what’s next’ with our employees and will be more clear on what is happening and projected timelines.

Pros

They have a lot of turn over so if you are looking for a job for a few months or a year, you can get a gig for at least that amount of time. They provide snacks and coffee. Coworkers are friendly, all very young with a go-getter attitude. Weekly meetings include all employees so everyone is aware of what different departments are doing. CEO is available and accessible.

Cons

Work space was crowded, since almost no one has an official desk people often sat on the reception area couch to work. I joined the company as part-time while I finished school. I ran back and forth between the office and classes, making the effort because the CEO, Joe, had promised me a full time job upon graduation. A month out from graduation, I verbal contract promising full time with benefits from HR and my immediate boss. When I went in to sign, my boss literally brought me to the curb outside and told me the contract was off the table, but I could continue to work part time for minimum wage. I walked away immediately.
