Pros
Benefits and not a whole lot more
Cons
Stress related to unrealistic sales goals, lab results, limited hours allowed to perform unrealistic tasks that were brainstormed by corporate to try and satisfy the investors. Corporate do not appreciate any of the employees. Unless you work in a store with high sales (shopping malls) the hours allowed to operate the store increase, this means more people employed. If you are a “underperforming” store you get the basic hours. At the store I worked at I would get anything from 257 hours a week to the most was 350 hrs a week to operate a store Monday to Friday 8:30 to 7:00 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 6 pm. Have Full time store manager, full time lab manager, full time licensed optician and have enough associates to work the sales and lab. For the lab i would get 25% of the hours allowed, that would be anything from 67 hours a week to 77 hrs a week, having the lab manager as full time associate and part timers, it was hard finding a part time associate in SF who was willing to spend more in commuting to the store than the amount of hours they were supposed to work per day. Overall, after 8 1/2 years, I am glad I was let go/quit.
