Pros

Generous pay for someone straight out of college. Free training Generous 401k match

Cons

The upper management in this company, even directors, do not have the qualifications necessary to manage an entire department. Little instruction is given to employees and often times tasks are assigned to employees that do not have the industry experience or guidance to do so.Upper management is in charge of the safety of products, but they themselves have not had experience in the manufacturing environment at all and do not know what information is industry standard to collect for each product. Work that lower position employees have is often passed along as the work of their directors or senior managers when in actuality the upper management as no knowledge about the work at all. Actual experience and knowledge in the food industry is not valued at this company. Many people were promoted multiple times with huge jumps in position and pay because of personal relationships outside of work. There is no set standard in the purchasing department of how promotions work. During my time at Lidl, the people who had years of experience and brought up concerns from their experience working in manufacturing/food industry were brushed aside and in some cases even fired because they saw those people as threats. Your potential for promotions is based entirely on power play and how well you can pretend you know what you're doing when you don't. Only certain people tapped by management can move up in this company. There were many times that I felt threatened and unsafe in my working environment because of the intimidation factors being used on me and my team as a whole. When this was brought up as a concern, it was not taken seriously and excuses were fed to me by the director. Directors and senior managers do not take the blame for any mistakes that they make. Directors and senior mangers do not respect the time and hard work of the analysts on their team and do not foster a respectful environment. They curse at the entire department and use threatening language in an open office setting. They do not hold true to their values of "respect, recognition, and responsibility". Lidl is a lawsuit waiting to happen and a company that is doomed to fail. I would not advise anyone to work here.

Pros

Benefits are excellent, most people at the peer level are great. Clear performance expectations. Decent cross functional communication

Cons

Company leadership very European and doesn't quite understand the American consumer even after being in the US so long. Unreasonable expectations are the norm. No upward mobility unless you are European or speak fluent German.
