Pros

You work with some awesome people. Please don't work here you deserve way better than this. They will do whatever they can go suck you in and then find any reason to fire you if they want. So happy I found a new job.

I'm going to tell you every reason NOT to take a job at Lids. Please read. I'm a current college student with a good GPA and I'm being honest with you: 1) NO flexibility. Lids has the idea that they need the best people and want you to be interviewing people weekly, however they turn down or even fire people who can't work THEIR EXACT schedule. (literally the district managers say 'if they can't work our schedule they aren't right for us') It's not a "okay have two people working this night..." It's a literal template that tells you managers must work open-close on Mondays, Wednesdays, open-8 Fridays, 1-cl Saturdays and open-close Sundays. They have no respect for their managers. You work 45 hours a week when they want you to, regardless of whether or not you have a family. They don't care. 2) The pay sucks. There are no raises. If you've been there for 2 years you're going to be making less than the new people who come in, they don't care. 3) Many of the stores do not have any form of security. Hats are really easy for customers to walk out with. Depending on the area you're in, even if you're really sociable and get to know a customer, they will still leave stealing a hat if they were planning to. Now you have the issue of trying to figure out how to accuse them, without accusing them, without them making a scene, mall security doesn't care, and then you have to file a police report and hope you don't get fired for it. Lids will also make you pay for someone stealing if they feel like it. Yet won't invest in security systems. Sorry guys "Selling 101" doesn't work on the bad guys. 4) Constantly get talked down. So much negativity. We sell hats. Not cars. Hats. They want you to add on cheap accessories which include sunglasses that have been sitting since 2008, waterproofer, and other weird things nobody buys for their hats. I've put in several requests to get lanyards in the stores as accessories but they don't believe me that they would sell. Ok Lids. Your job literal gets threatened over your ability to sell a cap buddy even if you've hit your budget today. Because God forbid you're $300 above budget but didn't sell 3% of that in Accessories. 5) They make you push online sales when the online ordering system including customer care is CRAP. I hate ordering through Locate because I know 50% of the customers aren't going to receive the correct product or no product at all. Customer care doesn't care. The company literally will take money out of the customers pockets. They push you to get one online order a day but many of the customers already know how bad lids shipping is. 6) There are way better jobs in retail. Please. Work for a company that actually respects their employees. Lids is an at-will retailer and does not care about you. There is no flexibility in the hours, you're constantly getting screamed at, and it's just not worth the crappy pay.

Bonuses were good, that's IF you got them.

Lack of consistency in hours; high expectations set with said lack of hours on a schedule
