Pros

I loved all of my kiddos. The pay is better than most companies (that’s where they get you).

Cons

Breaks- Three 7-minute breaks if you’re lucky. Filthy Center- a client has stepped in another learners feces in a classroom. Kids and staff are always ill. ringworm spread, kids are always vomiting or having loose bowel movements but management will find ways to keep them so they can make more money. PTO- it’s terrible, sick days and vacation days are in the same pto bank. they claim there’s unlimited unpaid time off but they pick and choose who they want to approve and you have to request it two weeks in advance. Although, you’ll get written up if they have to send you home due to illness but you don’t have the pto to cover it. Management- extreme favoritism and ignore the RBTs feedback. Closed off. Malicious. Pot stirring. Money hungry. Promotes their value of “always be yourself” but are incredibly two-faced. Predominantly white- POC are easily targeted when it comes to staff drama. Had one coworker who was reprimanded for the way they speak to the children (not “talking white”) and said that’s why kids aggress to them. Not to mention most clients are POC. Have witnessed a white BCBA become more aggressive with their black clients compared to their white clients when dealing with behaviors. Shady and Untrustworthy Coworkers- techs will purposely try to get you fired or written up if they don’t like you. They will make false accusations with no evidence to back it up. Basically this job is good for you if you loved the high school drama. Most of the employees are in it for the wrong reasons and never for the kids. It’s drama and a war to getting promotions. Management plays a huge role into it. Your misery is not worth the pay. AT ALL

Pros

The wonderful clients and RBTs make the clinic such a fun place to work at. The level up opportunities for RBTs are a great way for techs to move up within the company, even if they are not pursuing a Masters degree in ABA. The benefits available are pretty good and the hours of operation are good for a work/life balance.

Cons

The management at this clinic engages in favoritism, does not uphold supervision duties, and can be such a sour individual to work with at times. This is the primary reason for the lower rating. Though Lighthouse has great opportunities for RBTs, individuals who are pursuing a master’s degree are not given clear outlines of promotions or adequate supervision currently. This clinic also struggles to take staff concerns seriously which has since resulted in bullying, favoritism, and overall lower moral of staff. Lighthouse also offers an “optional” lunch as a means for cutting corners and and cutting costs across the company. This means that even though full time positions are offered, in order to get 40hrs per week, you skip taking a lunch break. If you do decide to take a lunch, that “full time” then only becomes 37.5 hrs per week. While I understand things change constantly, this seems a bit inhumane to make staff decide between making their 40 hours or taking a break from a highly demanding job during the day to actually sit down and eat something. This has increased burnout in many of the staff members unfortunately.
