Pros

I've been really pleased with both the salary and the work environment at Lumachain. The compensation is competitive and reflects the hard work we put in. Additionally, the work environment is supportive and encouraging, . I'm grateful to be part of such a great company

Cons

While Lumachain offers many great opportunities, there can be occasional challenges with managing workload due to the fast-paced environment. However, this also means there's always something new to learn and ways to grow professionally

Pros

We are growing at an exponential pace, working with world-leading customers, in a green-fields space. This the most talented team I have ever had the opportunity to work with: smart, dedicated, collaborative and all about team ("We, not me").

Cons

Working at a rapidly growing scale-up is not for everyone. It is an incredibly talented team that sets a high performance bar, and we have a lot of work on. We also have a clear culture built around integrity, passion, supporting and caring for each other, and valuing diversity. So Lumachain won't suit people who are looking for a more 'steady state/BAU' environment, or who are not focussed on succeeding as a team, together. It's "we" before "me", always. Egos left at the door!

Pros

Industry with Potential: The company operates in a sector that has the potential for growth and innovation. Convenient Location: Situated in a location that's easily accessible.

Cons

Leadership Concerns: While the CEO is often perceived as a visionary leader, there seems to be a disconnect between their public persona and management style. Decision-making appears highly centralized, with limited empowerment for experienced professionals in various departments like Finance, Engineering, Customer Service, and Project Management. This has led to an environment where differing opinions or challenges to the status quo are not always welcomed. Lack of Clear Vision: The company often struggles with defining a coherent strategy or plan, impacting the success of projects and overall direction. Attempts by employees to contribute to strategic discussions or raise concerns are often not encouraged, leading to a cycle of shifting priorities without clear outcomes. Support and Governance: Support from the top leadership, including the CEO, feels lacking, and alternative avenues for addressing concerns, such as the Board, seem to have limited impact. This can leave employees feeling unsupported in their efforts to bring about positive change. Innovation and Technology: From a technological standpoint, the company relies heavily on standard, off-the-shelf solutions. The approach to integrating these technologies seems to result in considerable technical debt, which is often overlooked, hindering innovation. Company Culture and Ethics: Despite what is often communicated, the company culture and adherence to values appear to need improvement. Business practices sometimes lack transparency and formal structure, and decisions often seem influenced by personal relationships rather than merit. Diversity and Inclusion: There is a sense that not everyone is given equal opportunities or treatment, especially if they do not align closely with the CEO's perspectives. Overall Sentiment: Many talented individuals are choosing to leave, which is concerning. There is potential in the company, which was evident in its early stages, but it feels like this is being overshadowed by current practices and attitudes. In conclusion, while the company has potential, significant changes in leadership approach, strategic planning, and company culture are necessary to realize it fully.

We do Culture Amp surveys regularly, and the results are strong. While we are always looking to do better, the comment above does not align with those results, nor with the constant ad hoc conversations we have across the team. We have a high-performance culture. If you’re talented, motivated, want to work collaboratively with an awesome bunch of people who genuinely care about each other, to help change a multi-trillion dollar industry, you’ll probably love working here . But our culture isn’t for everyone. This is the most talented group of people I have ever had the privilege to work with, and the performance bar is set high. Also, while everyone takes pride in their work and we love to recognize and celebrate individual contributions, there is never a sense of ego. It’s “we, before me”, always. If you are talented and are a great fit for our culture, you’ll love it here. But if there isn’t alignment on either talent or culture fit (we value both equally), you probably won’t enjoy it at Lumachain. And we absolutely, passionately believe in diversity.
