Pros

Amazing volunteers, many of whom are themselves victims. Staff who in most cases want to do well Good benefits/vacation, etc.

Cons

Senior Leadership at the National Level is beyond controlling, and frankly does not have the necessary breadth of experience, or appreciation of the breadth that DOES exist at the local state/affiliate level, to maximize results. Asking any kind of question that suggests doubt about nationally-imposed strategy leads to retribution and/or demands that you stop asking questions. National Board is made up in majority of victims, which would be fine IF those people were selected based on the expertise/connections/capital they bring and not solely because of their status as victims. One result of the previous "con" is a shocking lack of investment in organizational infrastructure such as decent accounting technology, proper fundraising software. VERY conservative atmosphere - I was not at the national office but certainly felt the preference for small-c conservatives who'll go-along and not rock the boat whenever i was at National in Irving, TX.
