Pros

The benefits are on par with most other businesses when it comes to insurance and 401K. Traditional holidays are paid (but don't expect to get MLK Day or Juneteenth). They do let everyone leave 2 hours early on the day before a holiday. The HR "Fun" team tries to do things for the employees, like having a food truck provide free lunch. Co-workers are kind and friendly, and some managers try to make things better. It is an 8-5 job for the most part. I seldom worked evenings or weekends, and the same is true for the majority of employees. If you are efficient, you can get your work done in the 40-hr week.

Cons

* The company trusted employees to work from home during Covid (or at least was forced to trust employees working at home by government mandates). The employees worked hard and business grew during Covid. MAT was one of the first businesses to force employees back to the office - months before most others did. The owner refuses to get on-board with current business practices and allow for a hybrid work environment. He will not budge even as a mass exodus of employees from the company occurs. * Employees are treated inequitably. A chosen few are allowed to work remotely. Salaries for most employees are not on par with other employers in the area for similar jobs. When the company gave a 2-3% raise to employees to help cover rising fuel costs, they refused to give it to anyone who had not worked at MAT for at least a year. * Not everyone gets bonuses, and those that do have no structure or set % to the plan - you get whatever the management thinks you deserve and you never know why. Performance reviews never happen and you seldom get verbal or written kudos. * Bad behavior is ignored. A senior manager was allowed to belittle people and make the worksite terrible for everyone for over 2 years before he was finally fired. * The building looks nice from the outside, but looks can be deceiving. A fresh coat of paint and new carpet just covers the real problems. The inside of building and surrounding outdoor areas have a constant stench of raw sewage from the septic system that the company refuses to replace due to the high cost. The water is unsafe to drink. And there always seems to be a bug problem - from stinkbugs in the stairwells to sewer gnats in the lower office corridors. * There is little room for advancement. The departments are lean.
