Pros

Learning Environment: The current state of codebase offers a unique learning experience on the importance of code quality and maintainability, providing practical lessons on what not to do in software development. Job Stability: The company provides a stable work environment with experienced, though not knowledgeable, professionals who have been with the company for a long time. Working on Improvements: The company is becoming aware of the issues related to code quality and knowledge gaps and is actively working on addressing these concerns, which presents an opportunity for employees to contribute to meaningful improvements.

Cons

Knowledge Gaps in Basic Concepts: Despite their experience, the developer leads lack knowledge of some fundamental software development concepts, which can hinder project maintainability, and extensibility. Poor Code Quality Standards: There are very low, if any, standards for code quality, leading to poorly structured and difficult-to-maintain project files with tens of thousands of lines of code. Maintenance Challenges: The lack of code quality standards results in significant maintenance challenges, making it harder to manage and update projects efficiently. Limited Growth in Best Practices: The environment is not conducive to applying modern software development best practices, which can limit professional growth and skill advancement. Potential for Technical Debt: The absence of robust code quality practices leads to the accumulation of technical debt, which slows down future development and increases the risk of bugs and system failures.

Pros

I wish I could give you a pro RUN away if you can

Cons

Where do I start…. Micromanagement to the max: Dissecting your mileage to your sales visits even though the mileage app sucked and did not work half the time. If you drive their car you can’t even drink water as the camera will alert corporate and you get a nasty email. False promises: only be overnight 1-2 nights a week which was not true Zero training on what’s important Let people sell instead of burying them in worthless tasks Had me train for 8 weeks away from home like I was in the military and I stared at a wall in an office. My wife had a medical scare early on and I mentioned that I would like to be with her with the diagnosis and they still made me travel 8 hours from home. Pretty sure they were forcing me out as I talked to other sales reps and they weren’t under the pressure that I was. It’s not really a real sales job there is no selling your basically and order taker and spend your time trying to figure out the mess of ordering.
