Pros

Machina Labs is one of those rare places where you can literally see the future being built in front of you. The combination of AI, robotics, and real-world manufacturing creates an environment that’s both inspiring and challenging. The mission is to reimagine how things are made, and that creates a sense of purpose that runs through the whole team. Leadership genuinely believes in innovation and transparency, and there’s a shared excitement about the impact we’re making in aerospace, defense, and automotive. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of a team that’s not just talking about the future, we're manufacturing it.

Cons

Like any startup, the pace can be intense and priorities shift quickly. It’s not always easy, but that’s a big part of what makes it exciting. You have to be comfortable with ambiguity and ready to grow fast.

Working at Machina Labs has been a very rewarding experience. There is always an interesting challenge to tackle and management gives you the space to get your job done without too much meddling or pointless meetings. Everyone is welcoming and there's lot's of very smart and interesting people around to talk to.

Cons

There are only 3 electric vehicle charging stations. Free lunch is only a few days a week.

Pros

You get to wear many hats and take on responsibilities beyond your years of experience. There’s a lot of ownership and trust, making it a great environment for self-motivated and curious people who like solving open-ended problems. The pace is fast and the work is varied — no two days are alike. I came from an OEM background, where my projects were narrowly focused. At Machina, the work is completely different. The technology is still developing, so there’s real opportunity to make an impact and shape how it evolves. You’re working at the edge of design, not just executing mature processes. The team is filled with very smart, generous people who share knowledge freely. And, honestly, getting to work with giant robots every day is just fun.

Cons

When I first joined, the company was still finding its footing — the business model, target customers, and engineering priorities weren’t fully defined. Over the past year, that’s improved a lot, and it’s now clear how my work fits into the broader plan. The location can be inconvenient if you want to live outside the valley, often a 30-minute commute. As with any startup, the pace can be demanding at times, but most people maintain good work-life balance.
