Pros

Non-management coworkers are good, fun and hardworking people

Cons

These same non-management coworkers are often overloaded, stressed and generally fed up with everything, so while it's easy to relate, the overall vibe of the workplace is frustrated and depressed. I've been in food service since 2008, and this is the first place I've ever worked where I felt the managerial staff was not capable of carrying out the tasks their employees were responsible for. To add to this, I have never worked at a place where managers acted so above their employees. No good manager should deem their employees' tasks categorically beneath them, doubly so for someone who's managing a grocery store. Management mistreated many employees from different departments. One person was let go a few days after they put in their two weeks notice, another had her schedule radically changed with no notice so the company could higher someone younger and cheaper to replace her, the bakery was expected to run with no manager and token support from the owner/"chef", and anyone who gave the company the courtesy of two weeks notice to move on to bigger and better things was met by management with a cold shoulder and a short meeting on their last day about "how difficult they were making this for us." In short, the management/ownership of this place wears a thin veneer of friendliness, care and corporate responsibility, but in reality is passive aggressive, almost incapable of clear communication (if any) and as a whole seem to greatly overestimate their collective intelligence.

Whomever you are, we are truly sorry things were this bad for you. Since you left, we have worked hard to figure out the staffing here: have let some managers go, have moved others around to find the right fit. It feels like we have a good groove now, but seriously, what can we do to make it better for everyone? Thank you for your frank comments, pretty tough to read but appreciated.

Pros

Non-management employees are absolutely amazing! Some of the best people I've ever met and worked with.

Cons

- Schedule changes less than 24 hours before your shift and there is no communication. - Schedule is not updated digitally on the app - If someone calls into their shift you are expected to stay and work their shift. - Scheduling medical appointments is difficult, requests denied often - Your scheduling availability will not be respected. - You will be thrown into departments you were not hired for - Inconsistent company policy on shoplifting: an employee was fired for NOT chasing a shoplifter, and another employee was fired FOR chasing a shoplifter. - Overheard management speaking disparagingly about employees to each other in the office multiple times - Inconsistent management style across different managers - Passive communication from management
