Pros
Martin-Harris offers an excellent internship program. From the start, the team welcomed me with open arms and provided a structured schedule outlining key activities and processes to learn each week. They were always available to answer my questions. I had the opportunity to work on a multi-family project with multiple superintendents, a project manager, a project administrator, and a project engineer on-site. This setup gave me valuable exposure to both the field and office teams, allowing me to engage with different aspects of the construction process. Martin-Harris offers extensive training opportunities to help employees develop their skills, particularly those new to the company or the construction industry. Their training covers key topics such as writing RFIs, document control, and understanding project-specific hardware, along with other essential construction processes and programs such as P6 and Procore. The office team I worked with was entirely female, allowing me to meet many women working at Martin-Harris. This representation could help female candidates feel more included and supported in the company.
Cons
Some days were slow, which is expected, but I believe there could have been more opportunities to take a more active role in leading meetings or gaining deeper insight into effective communication during them.
