Zero management strategy, terrible pay, unreasonable workload - Academic Sales Representative McGraw Hill Employee Review

Pros

Remote work/work from home opportunities

Cons

Management has no strategy whatsoever. They do not listen to constant feedback and make no effort to improve work load. There is no understanding of what it is like boots on the ground. Every role is given more responsibilities each year with no pay increase to reflect the new remit of the role. Targets are set so high that they are completely unachievable. As the team members leave or are made redundant there is no sign of them being replaced. There is zero opportunity for upwards mobility within the company. When a manager leaves their role is left unfilled to save the company money, while passing the workload onto everyone else. When comparing similar roles to other companies, the pay is at least 30% lower here.

Pros

Great on-boarding team and process, multiple health benefit options, hefty bonus structure.

Cons

If you like having ZERO work life balance this job is for you. The expectation to be on at all times is never said, just implied and expected. They'll say don't work late or on weekends, but the job needs to be done. So if 40 hours isn't enough, which it never is, given the daily meeting expectations, managing renewal processes, outreach campaigns, and onsite meetings, figure it out. The sales team is KING, and everyone else has to accommodate their personalities. Sales can be rude and argumentative to MANAGERS in front of other team members or in meetings, and they are still employed because they bring in money! The general feel is "Ask questions but not too many questions" This work environment was toxic.
