      You get to experience and observe greater variety of patient care than any other transport company

      Cons

      This place expects everything from you: got 10 mins between calls ?do go ahead and somehow cram 30 mins worth of cleanup after a patient with CDiff and bed bugs, trying to eat lunch after 5 hours of non-stop calls? No, we double booked crews and now YOU are 3 hours late to an emergent call with an extra angry patient, what do you mean you can carry 450lbs patient down 4 flights of stairs with your partner? You just finished cleaning and fueling after 13 hour shift? Too bad, you getting a 5hour call in the middle of nowhere with no help to get a 500lvs shutin out of the border trailer, good luck. All of the above for $12/hr.

      Pros

      The company, which is owned by Sentara, offers great benefits. You can do all CEUs for free through MTI. The pay isn't too terrible and overtime is given out like candy.

      Cons

      Long hrs. 13 hour shifts are painful especially when they'll end up being more like 14-15 hour shifts just to get up and do it again tmrw. Mongering are even worse bc they'll do it 5 days a week and an 8 hr shift will ALWAYS be more like a 10 hr shift. Management and dispatch cares little about the EMTs on the streets. If you're supposed to be off at 6 they WILL give you a call at 555 and not think twice. Which may sound fine at first but trust me. You'll want to load a shotgun after a couple of months. It's all about the bottom line for them and they'll work you like dogs. But some are more fine with that than others.
