Pros
Retirement plan match, dental, health care, vacation time, sick time, and other benefits are good from actually working directly for the University of Michigan. Pay was average.
Cons
What at first seems like a friendly place to work quickly turns into a nightmare. The turnover rate was incredible for various departments, especially IT. The upper management is rather incompetent, and that turns around on the rest of the employees in a definite culture of fear. If one of the Vice Presidents or President doesn't like you for any reason, don't expect to enjoy your job in the slightest. The upper management is rather incompetent, and they single out the hard workers who make them look bad. They are very effective at weeding out their best employees and either torture them into quitting or fire them. Almost every person who was good at their job when I worked there is now gone. Easily the most dysfunctional workplace I've ever worked at, including retail jobs.
