Pros

- Strong work/life balance - Get to go home at 3:30pm on Fridays

Cons

- Infighting among upper management requires subordinates to strategize around them. Upper management secretly speaks negatively of each other to subordinates - Employee morale is generally low - Work environment is conservative - It's not safe to be LGBT here - Pay is bad. No annual bonuses, and annual raise is nonexistent or less than the rate of inflation - Strong "stay in your lane and keep your head down" attitude among employees. This is not their fault -- it's the result of the environment created by management - Work hours are rigid

Messer Financial Response

Respectfully this post does not represent our Company, our culture or our Values. This post was left by a disgruntled former employee who worked for us for less than 5 months and went to lunch and never came back after having a single disagreement with her boss over a process improvement she wanted but we couldn't implement for a few months due to budgetary constraints. Just an observation, but If the pay was so bad why did she actually accept the offer and relocate from another city to take the job? This employee again was not here long enough to get an annual bonus or a raise so her comments there are disingenuous at best and for the record we do provide both. Her LGBT comment is equally false as some of our best and most respected team mates identify as LGBTQ including in mngt. The reality is we simply don't care about ones sexual orientation and we do not discriminate. We care that our company is full of kind and decent people who respect each other. We value the Individual and have an extremely diverse staff who work smart and care and support each other every day. If you want to work for a Company that values you, rewards you for the efforts you put in and has your back when the chips are down then I assure you Messer is the company for you.

Pros

Great benefits, a lot of opportunities for growth and professional development, chances for unique experiences and to meet amazing individuals from all walks of life, and even though it is a corporation they still care about people individually and will help those that need it. Also it's a pet-friendly work place.

Cons

The expected- the higher up you are on the corporate ladder the more commitment to the job is needed which can bleed into work/life balance. The insurance industry can also be very mercurial at times which adds a unique stress to the duties. Senior Management can become a bit detached sometimes during certain parts of the year, but they are approachable and welcome honest, constructive feedback and criticism.

Pros

Innovative programs for agents. Leads and E&O insurance for captive agents.

Cons

I contracted with them through one of their sub agencies. Messer had no control over the agency which gave incorrect information. Agency support was inadequate and use of technology was subpar.
