Pros

- gained some industry experience - built some valuable connections - better able to spot wolves in sheep's clothing after working here

Cons

- immature and shameful management that frequently engages in yelling and various emotional outbursts, as well as muttering dispicable things under their breath to prevent from being heard by anyone - hard work is not valued here - no overtime pay - there is no designation for sick pay, it comes out of your vacation pay - expected to work late hours and shift entire work schedule; punished when not able to do so and this was not the same set of expectations discussed during the interview where work-life balance was emphasized - gossip culture rooted in fear - rude and undercutting employees - no true departmental leadership - values expressed during multiple orientation sessions are not reflected in or demonstrated by departmental management - benefits structure needs drastic improvement - horrible commute - not worth the headache

Pros

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Cons

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.
