Pros

Most of the staff works together as a team and have fun and we always have patients and visitors bringing us food to help deal with the crazy busy days.

Cons

In this particular department the old director was very vindictive, fake and did her dirt behind closed doors. The current female manager as of January 2021 was a liar get mad if you call off or requested PTO because she didn’t want to find you coverage. She’d call you very inappropriate names to other staff members if you didn’t do what she wanted. They never celebrated patient access week appropriately they gave us sticky notes and hand sanitizer and candy. 1 time we were given a really nice journal. But overall they were messy and tried to put us against each other.

Pros

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Cons

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.

We're glad to hear that the flexibility and availability of shifts have been a benefit for you. As one of the region's largest health systems, Methodist offers opportunities that can help PRN team members find the schedule that works best for them. We also recognize that higher patient volumes and workload expectations can come with working in a busy, high-acuity environment. Supporting our team members remains a priority, and we continually evaluate our compensation programs and workplace resources to remain competitive and help our employees succeed. Thank you for the important role you play in caring for our patients and for being a valued member of the Methodist family.
