Pros

The culture really is a family and if you are only in it for a job, a title, or even the pay, you're not going to love it (though we will do our best to try!) For those who stick around, it is a welcoming family - not perfect - but the best place I have worked in 40 years and I don't plan on ever leaving! Diverse culture, education and residency opportunities for medical staff.

Cons

As always, pay and pt-to-staff ratios, but that's not Methodist specific. They have been more than fair with raises and bonus pay during COVID. I personally can't complain because others are burning out and leaving.

Pros

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Cons

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.

We're glad to hear that the flexibility and availability of shifts have been a benefit for you. As one of the region's largest health systems, Methodist offers opportunities that can help PRN team members find the schedule that works best for them. We also recognize that higher patient volumes and workload expectations can come with working in a busy, high-acuity environment. Supporting our team members remains a priority, and we continually evaluate our compensation programs and workplace resources to remain competitive and help our employees succeed. Thank you for the important role you play in caring for our patients and for being a valued member of the Methodist family.
