Great First Job - Patient Care Technician Methodist Health System Employee Review

Pros

Benefits are good, I have learned a lot in first six months of working here. This is also my first medical job so everything has been a learning experience.

Cons

One con would be the way some (not all) RNs treat PCTs. In a few instances an RN has done things to be argumentative with PCTs, when in reality we are all there as a team for the purpose of caring for patients and not to bring each other down. Again this is only a few people.

Pros

Coming from a smaller size hospital but big company like Methodist and known high paying hospital in DFW, I needed more shifts. Since MDMC is bigger than my other PRN, I have higher chance of getting shifts because there are more monitoring stations, more staff taking PTOs, higher chance of staff calling out sick and therefore opening the shift, etc.

Cons

More workload and higher census! Almost 50 patients on heart monitor per station.
