Pros

Micron is not afraid to spend money on the latest technology to compete in the global marketplace. The amount of vacation time is pretty good especially if your area works holidays you can get 4 weeks off your first year. Pay is good for the Boise area. Overall we are treated very well.

Cons

Micron is in the process of changing it's CEO from Mark Durcan to Mark Adams. Mark Adams brilliant idea is to simply work everybody much harder. Management is now extremely concerned with numbers and not as concerned with quality as they used to be. Also Micron seems to have a lot of management who don't really do that much except go to meetings but not usually with the people they actually manage. You will defiantly experience layoffs if you stay at Micron more than a few years. I have seen four rounds of layoffs in my time there. Also one of the rounds was totally unnecessary. Micron was making money hand over fist yet still did a 5% layoff. Goals for promotion are extremely verge but promotions do happen especially to very top performers.

Pros

Decent pay, great stock grants and stock purchase plan. You can be at the forefront of memory technology driving today's AI megaboom, and benefit from the high demand (i.e. soaring stock price).

Cons

Little sense of community, lifeless office environment, dead-eyed and overworked employees. "Flexible work arrangements" in name only, as recent policy changes have significantly reduced effectiveness especially if you have a long commute or family life. Too much emphasis on unimportant buzz such as embracing diversity and inclusion is just annoying, but par for the course in today's big tech industry.
